An Industrial visit of students of Fashion Design

The students of Fashion Design departments of “Trytoon Academy” & “College of Engineering & Technology”, Bhubaneswar jointly participated in an Industrial visit to the weaver’s village-Maniabandha. Rich in the rural landscape “Maniabandha” houses a number of weaver’s family in the Athagarh District of Odisha. From generations these families have engaged themselves in “Ikat Handlooms”. Mr. Prakash Parida & Mrs. Purvi Mishra, faculty members of Trytoon Academy & College of Engineering & technology respectively guided the entire tour with few local crafts men.

The tour opened up a world of incredible artistic traditions in the midst of a verdant rustic setting that transform the understanding of simple and sustainable lifestyle of the weaving families. The tour led students to many dwellings of local weavers. The entire team was welcomed with a lot of joy and genuine warmth. The families gave a detailed tour of their houses, showing the various rooms where the threads were washed, coloured, dyed and processed; where looms are set etc. They showed many of their sample of works. The handloom products of Manibandha are very famous as tourists from across the globe visit and purchase the same. Even the products are exported to many cities of India and even abroad. This Industrial visit provided a detailed knowledge to the students about the fabric, process and design for which they will be highly grateful to the organizers
